One of the best parts of what we do at Intrepid Designs NT is creating opportunities for young people to explore their creativity and discover confidence through art.
This week, Riece had the privilege of facilitating a hands-on art workshop as part of Back2School Art Week, following an inspiring street art tour through Darwin City. The excursion encouraged participants to look beyond the surface of public art, exploring the stories, styles and techniques behind the murals before bringing that inspiration into the studio. During the workshop, each young person created their own canvas artwork, using the ideas they'd gathered throughout the day while developing new painting skills and experimenting with colour, composition and creative expression.
Every canvas was completely unique, reflecting the individual personalities, experiences and imagination of each participant. Watching young people gain confidence as their ideas came to life is always one of the most rewarding parts of these workshops. At Intrepid Designs NT, we believe art is more than creating something that looks good. It's about building confidence, encouraging self-expression, developing creative thinking and giving young people a safe space to explore new skills.
A big thank you to the Back2School team for inviting us to be part of Art Week and for their ongoing commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for young people. It was a fantastic experience, and we're proud to have played a small part in helping these young artists create something they can be proud of. If you're looking to incorporate creative workshops, mural projects or community art activations into your school, organisation or event, we'd love to help bring your ideas to life.
